The movie Matrix was a hit for many people in the late 90s. It was the early dawn of private access to the internet and its myriad of digital possibilities. With it came a number of early digital holes and they naturally gave rise to the first digital hackers.
No matter how much you want to tap it, human inquisitiveness is always lurking and every crack in the system will lead to its exploration channels. A craving for truth that soon can grows to be ‘like a splinter in the mind’ as depicted in the movie… Like a splinter in our mind…

What kind of big brother is manipulating the game?
What’s real?
That splinter seems to have been always there. In the old time whether it was called ‘Thou Search’ or “The Holy Grail”, it could drive people crazy.
Back then, it was about the big father rather than the big brother, but we could say it was basically the same. The big father and its godly image was also the common wonder and the object of the most ‘angelic’ as well as most ‘machiavellic’ manipulation game.
Nowadays we’ve swapped it for the big brother and its image as big corporate or government wonder or monster. But again, the story and the feeling is basically the same. Like a splinter in the mind, our human intelligence and inquisitiveness – the homo sapiens trademark, it seems – would not vanish. And it has been like that throughout the waltz of history…
