The real core of Up-Stream is not about us, it’s about you:
It is your evolution that is at the center of our attention.
As Sir Ken Robertson used to say, “education is not about the teacher nor the teaching, it’s about whether or not the student is learning !”
This sentence got deep into my understanding of evolution. Up-stream is designed expressly to make sure that your learning and your evolution or individuation is what leads the program.
Still, not as founder of Up-Stream but as a perpetual student of life, here is some of what has validated my path, and what I validate as a path:
I have been searching 40 years for real clues regarding our human situation. During the first 20 years, I have been totally involved in Inner work, studying various philosophies, religions and spirituality. I even went through a full and formal Tibetan lama’s meditation retreat for three and half years.
I validated many of the depth and truth of such techniques, but also dis-validated many of the underneath cultures, beliefs and religiosity that unfortunately end up corrupting them.
One of the root flaws is indeed that over emphasis toward the teachers and the teachings instead of toward the students’ development. Such a flaw creates a vertical hierarchy that establishes a -more or less discrete- feeling of superiority and inferiority. Unfortunately this often overwrites and dis-validates what would be the pure inner essence.
Way too often it actually reaches the opposite result of the original intention. Instead of waking up people, it reins in their evolution. Instead of making people open, lucid and free, it makes them sheep or stars – religious sheep or religious stars rather…
Not that the freeing essence is not there, but in order to be able to witness reality, you might need a life time. It is not easy for this essence to pass through the filter of such conditioning. Basically this flaw cripples people’s strength and wisdom instead of enhancing it.
During those first 20 years, I recognized this flaw as one of the roots of our inner disharmony. I also recognized that it is perfectly possible to reverse it.

During the second 20 years, I have been very much involved in Outer reach activities such as international business, non profit organization or education.
In such fields, I validated the fact that making money is not a job, but the fruit of a job.
Business can definitely be seen- and be absolutely viable- as the activity of responding to a specific demand, to the best of our ability.
Originally, the word business just means activity and refer to the basic sharing of our wealth and energy toward the common good of a situation. To be viable, such common good already includes our personal benefit and I have learn to totally dis-validate business as only a personal profit oriented activity.
Such one way business or activity mostly ends up creating a wider gap in the wealth, education and opportunity between people. I recognize such gap as the main root of our outer disharmony.
I also recognize that we have both the resources and the knowledge to reduce this gap and its ensuing time bomb ticking reality.
Mixing all those realizations, I found out and verified that through integrating mind training (inner work) with business ethic and activity (outer reach), we can really deliver and develop the best in us and the best in humankind.
Inwardly, we can indeed develop a projection-free openness, lucidity and freedom that we can truly experience and truly call happiness or felicity-serenity.
Outwardly, it seems that such serenity can build an open and fair society that could bind all of humanity within its warmth, embracing it with its two arms: happiness and wisdom.
Those are the two complementary qualities that are being developed and shared through the Up-stream training program. They do lead to a better management of this incredible experience & opportunity that we call human life.
Although all of that is true for me, now what matters is if it is true for you.
